about bryan

I became a licensed massage therapist (LMT) in Ithaca, New York, in 2000. In the past 20 years of my career as an LMT, I’ve continued my studies in Shiatsu, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Orthopedic, Japanese seated massage, Lomi Lomi and Thai massage. Becoming a yoga teacher in 2010 deepened my studies of anatomy and self-healing.

Proper alignment, form, and  well-being are values I hold very close in daily work with others. I have experience working with physical therapists and in chiropractic clinics, massage and yoga private practice, and wellness centers and spas. I’ve worked with people of all ages to address chronic illness, postural imbalances, and sports injuries both amateur and professional. It’s incredibly rewarding to work alongside others in achieving greater health and healing injuries.

In addition to direct healing work, I’ve led workshops for other professionals to increase their own  well-being in their practice, attune them to their form at work, and provide longevity in their careers. I’m passionate about the intersections of massage and yoga to promote overall health and empower others along this path.

After travelling to Japan, Thailand, and Hawaii to learn more in depth approaches to these traditional massage techniques, I feel that the sessions that I offer are similar to an assisted yoga practice.  All of these styles use acupressure and stretches to unlock restrictions in the connective tissue.  Though some of the techniques translate well to work done on the massage table, full Shiatsu and Thai Massage sessions are done on a padded mat on the floor to facilitate proper body mechanics.
